It's not all lost, he'll be back. Plus, RNH will be back in November probably. The Oilers might be behind and looking up by then, but in all honesty, they probably were anyways?

They'll be alright. Nuge will back, I'm thinking ahead of schedule if he practiced with a regular jersey today in a full contact practice. Then we're in the same situation, just better. Instead of Hall and Gagner at center, we have Hall and the Nuge. We'll be fine. Playoffs are still a go, don't panic and surely don't write the season off.

Man, im telling you this right now, we going make playoffs, and yes its sucks we are missing gags and nuge, but were going to come out of the gate, and win alot more then we lose, just watch and see.

Just to restate what I said in the Henderson thread:

"Intent to injure doesn't invalidate a suspension. It plays into the length, but there have been a number of times where intent wasn't a factor in a suspended play. Consider Hall's knee-on-knee collision that cost him two games. There wasn't intent to injure, just a misplaced hit by an inexperienced hitter. Intent is not the be-all end-all of suspensions."

Man the Oilers are softer then butter...

I saw many teams (frank) up high draft picks for years. but my god how do you (frank) up 454987347948 straight first overall picks?

And RNH isn't injured that's BS. It is hurricane season and the oilers are keeping him out of the weather. they don't want him to blow away

At this point, I think the Oil could go after Colborne, not just being a homer here. Colborne is decent, he's just not gonna make it ahead of Bozak Kadri and Bolland. He's a no risk option at 600k, can probably help out as 2nd line centre, if he does well then they can keep him, if not then cut ties.

Glad we have hockey guru's like this on HB to share their wisdom with us. Where would this site be without such thought provoking commentary? Within the realm of credibility, perhaps?

To the issue of the season being lost: It's a little early to write the season off. I can only assume your blog was written with a healthy dose of sarcasm. It is clear however, that the Oilers need to do something to address their center depth.

For all of you who are worshiping Darnell Nurse's jock strap, this is exactly why some of us didn't want the oilers to draft a defenseman. Nurse has been good, but drafting a center would have made this situation a little more tolerable. While having a newly drafted center might not have been the magic bullet, it certainly would give the oilers options right now, instead of the log jam on the blueline they currently face.

Except no one could've foretold that MacT would've signed/acquired 4 Dmen set to compete for NHL duty in the offseason. Also, no one could've foretold that Horcoff would be traded as well.

So no, this isn't exactly why you didn't want them to draft Nurse.

I'm pretty sure that if Calgary hadn't picked Monahan (sp?), the Oil would've grabbed him instead of Nurse. That being said, it's water under the bridge and I'm fine with Nurse being picked.

its not the end of the world or the season.

RNH is ready to return anytime. November 1 was the pessismistic, 'playing it extra safe' date. he's ready now. He'll start no later then mid Oct.

glass half full view: it gives Hall more reason to stay at C and fall in love with the position. the only stopping Hall from being a star C is his will to play it.

RNH and Taylor Hall as the team's 1 and 2 Cs for the next 10 years? not too bloody shabby.

Wasting a spot for an enforcer? When the Oil had one they were competitive - even played some playoff games. Without one they've been crap, and had big time forwards get injured. Not saying Gagner wouldn't be injured, but no one on the other teams are looking over their shoulders.

Typically when the sky is falling for Oilers fans, it usually means things arent so bad.

Its when we get overconfident that I worry. This is not a season killer. Half of the jackasses on here included him in every trade scenario. Other teams fans harp on about how useless he is....yet suddenly his injury is a season killer lol. Calm down sweethearts.

You'll be hearing that a lot through out RNH's career, "RNH will be back."

Do you guys actually want Hall to make the permanent shift to centre? I would think he's a natural winger at the NHL level, but I only see him a few times a year.

With the smaller skilled forwards they can use some physical bigger players in the bottom 6. Joensuu is a start at least. I just don't see them going after a colton Orr or Steve MacIntyre type. Maybe a younger player that can skate and play like Nolan or Maroon

Kassian went for a hit along the boards, Gags stopped up making Kassian miss the hit by a good deal but in the follow through, Kassian's arms just kinda swung to the sides and happened to smash Gagner in the mouth.
